wore these on a chilly day of skiing in March, had a pair of long underwear pants and gym under as base course. comfortable pants, wind proof and left to dry on the slopes. side pockets are definitely useful for a phone, IDs, extra snacks, etc.. I am 5 ' 7 and got a medium, these were a little too big for me-I should have gone with a small. adjustable velcro waist belt is a nice feature to make your pants fit snug around the hips. I also love the hinges at the bottom
